I don't think I need to mention to you that times are tough, businesses soon find out how tough when they advertise a vacant position and they end up with thousands of resumes from individuals wanting employment.

These day's I am seeing lots of businesses scratching for ideas and ways to generate more income, so it's very difficult to comprehend any company giving away their services.

I have been a long time supporter of this company's product but when they announced they were going to give away 10's of thousands of dollars in software I had to ask why?

Tracie the office manager told me that the reason the software had become so successful in the last 5 years is solely because of its clients. Whilst the software generates its own sales in the Small Business Market we estimate that around 50% of sales come from word of mouth.

Tracie went on to say that over the last 5 years they had made significant changes to the software after listening to their client base, but were unable to resolve some issues due to the design of their program. So eight months ago they commenced work on a new version of the program which was only completed and released around 6 weeks ago. As a thank you to all their clients they gave their whole client base the opportunity of grabbing a copy for Free.

But Isn't this Economic Suicide

Now I am no idiot but when a company spends thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours developing a new product it is usually standard practice to charge users a fee for using it.. After all I doubt you would find the local mechanic working on your car for sixteen hours and then turn around and give you a couple of hundred dollars to thank you for the privilege of working on your motor vehicle.

When I queried Tracie about this she replying telling me that it was in our interest to support our clients so they also continue to grow, and after all it is our client base who have helped us to grow. If not for our clients we may not have grown as quick as we have to become such a thorn in the side of some of the industries established companies. Yes we could have charged our clients for the new software and most were expecting and prepared for it, so yes they did get a shock when we announced they were getting it for Free.

Still Very Amazed

Having my own small business and being a user of this accounting software I can assure you that I was extremely happy that EasyAs gave me a copy of their new program, but I am still left wondering why, it has been a brave move and an outstanding offer of generosity. I am no spring chicken so I have been around for a long time, I have never seen any other company developing accounting software who has ever been bold enough to take such action and I doubt I will ever see this display of generosity again.
