With the release of Version 8 we have also introduced the new updated subscriptions area. With every new purchase of the EasyAs Software you are entitled to 12 months of Free Updates from the day of purchase.
However you will never be forced to pay for any updates to your software, your software will not stop working if you do not update and it will never run out.. If you are happy with the current version then its yours for life...
But please read the rest of this page as all your immediate questions will be answered by the time you get to the bottom.
NO.. Essentially the answer to this question is NO.
As we enhance the program and bring out new releases of the software we provide these as an update. However if you are using the software and you find that it is perfect for your business the way it is, then you do not need to apply any of the updates if you don't want them.
NO.. Your EasyAs Software WILL NOT suddenly stop working because you did not pay for the updates.
We know that some of our competitors programs instantly shut down if you do not pay the yearly update fees, they force you to stay locked into the update program by forcing your program to stop working if you don't subscribe..
At EasyAs we do not do this, you purchase the program and if it is exactly what you want at time of purchase then you can keep using that version for life.
The new software "Version 8" was released in July 2011, we anticipate that over the first 6 months all bugs will be ironed out and from this point on future updates will be for software enhancements.
However the only time you may be required to update your subscription would be because of an unknown fault or bug in the software that was not resolved in the first 12 months of its release. Apart from this there would be no hazard with not applying updates as it is hoped that all future updates after July of 2012 will be for enhancements only.
But please be aware that the new software has gone through extensive testing by existing users over a 7 month period, and is considered to be as rock solid as all our previous versions.
We agree that 1+1 will always equal 2, so why should we suddenly need to update the software, if income less expenses equals gross profit how is this ever going to change.
This is a very good point and we perfectly understand this thinking as we have the same view. At EasyAs we have NO intention of updating the software for the sake of it. In fact we hope to eventually reach a time and place where we never make any more adjustments to the program.
The reason why our client base is growing daily is because we don't provide a whole bunch of useless crap in the software that force users to jump through 100 hoops just to enter a single expense.
So with the above in mind we have no intention of doing the same thing some of our corporate competitors are doing. We have no intention of updating and updating and putting in useless crap just so you pay us an annual fee.
We would rather put our attention to other markets and create other software (which is what we are doing)..
Be aware that almost 90% of enhancements made to EasyAs over the recent 5 years has come from client requests. When we get several clients requesting similar functions then we see if it is something that can benefit the whole without making it an extra hoop for those customers who don't need to use it. So all our enhancements are always useful.
It is hoped that we will get to a point in time when we never have a need to provide updates as this would mean that we have successfully developed the most user friendly small business accounting program on the market.
We already have sales in 25 countries worldwide and this only happened because our software is the simplest and most versatile program on the market, and we want to keep it that way.
As at July 2011 we do not have a definite price for Annual Subscriptions as the first 12 months is included with the purchase of the software.
However as we want to be open and allow you a reasonable level of expectancy we anticipate that the cost for annual subscriptions will not be any more then a third of the original price of the software.
As of July 2011 we anticipate that this would range from between $25 and $35 depending on the sale price of the software.
To put this into more perspective, we know that if you survey many of the competitors website's you will discover that most charge an annual fee between $100 and $200 (in many cases even higher then $200). In some cases their update fees are more then the cost of our original program.
So whilst we are forced to change the way we do business and charge for future enhancements we believe that our update fees are going to be very reasonable.
why do we need to charge
As it takes a great deal of time to create product enhancements it means that it is costing money (time = wages = cost) so in order for us to continue with suggested updates from our clients we need to be able to re coupe this cost. By being able to do this it means we can continue to supply our software at the cheap purchase price and still continue to make enhancements from ideas provided by our users.
